The element of light in this photo makes this photograph interesting and dynamic.  Because of the lighting you can notice a contrast in the waves and the intensities of light and dark.  I think the most striking feature of this photograph, making it my favorite photo, is the "lightening streak-like" figure projected from the sun onto the water through the horizon.  The brightness of the sun is illuminated through the highlight in the water. This contrast adds to the drama of the photo,giving it an illusion of distance being because of the dark shoreline.
